| Gilpin
to Pilot Blackwood Car Starting Saturday at Brownstown!
(July
30, 2026) Six-time Brownstown Speedway Late Model
Track Champion and Northern Allstars Late Model Dirt Series driver
Devin Gilpin of Columbus, Indiana will be driving the Blackwood
Motorsports #93 Longhorn Chassis starting this Saturday, August
1 at the Brownstown Speedway for the Jackson County 4-H Fair Race
paying $3,000 to win.
Plans are also in place to run the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned
44th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North-South 100 on August 6-8 at the
Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The team has intentions to
enter the August 21 and 22 Northern Allstars Late Model Dirt Series
events at the Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis and the Brownstown
Speedway for the C.J. Rayburn Tribute Race and the Hall of Fame
Classic.
Gilpin, who currently sits fifth in the Northern Allstars championship
points race has been plagued by mechanical issues over the last
few months.
Zak Blackwood, who is the regular driver for his father's team
has been idle since the May 29 and 30 Northern Allstars races at
Bloomington and Brownstown because of lingering effects from his
eye surgery in early spring.
"The doctor said it would be a few more months before I was
completely healed to be able to race again this year. Devin's grandpa
(Don Fleetwood) called me to see if we could do something for Devin
since his equipment is down. I talked with my dad (Jeremy), and
we said the car has just been sitting here, and we haven't been
racing and we have marketing partners to take of, so we agreed to
put Devin behind the wheel."
"I want to thank Zak and Jeremy for the opportunity to race
their car. They have good equipment and we plan to race it until
my equipment is back up and running," said the 35-year-old
Gilpin, who is the 2018 Eldora Speedway Late Model Track Champion,
and a 3-time UMP DirtCar Modified National Champion.
Blackwood Motorsports would like to thank their marketing partners
for 2026 including Blackwood Lawn and Landscaping, J&A Electric,
The Kroot Corporation, Kendall Trucks and Parts Yoder Farms, Blair
Home Improvement, The Dent Healer and Columbus Restoration, LLC.
